The Shoemaker’s House is a property that has been used as the workshop and fashion gallery of a well-known fashion shoe designer in Merida. The property itself is well located on a fairly quiet street midway between Paseo Montejo and La Plancha Park and only two blocks away from the new gastronomical corridor on Calle 47. The property consists of two houses (each with a separate deed) that have been joined together to make a beautiful 16-meter-wide façade with a great urban presence. Painted in the same colors the facade has 4 openings (3 doors and 1 window) on the street side ( 2 for each house.) Both houses are interconnected, one being the shoe and fashion gallery and the other one the workshop. Presently the business entrance is through the gallery on the left (east) side, where you enter into the main showroom, which has a 4.80-meter-high ceiling with iron and wooden beams; proceeding back in the building towards the yard in the back, there are two additional rows of 2 rooms each with 3.60- and 3.40-meter-high concrete roofs; three of these rooms are exhibition rooms and another one is being used as a big dining and kitchen area. All rooms have beautiful pasta tile floors except for the kitchen, which has a polished concrete floor. At the back of the building, a little covered terrace hides a bathroom and opens to the yard and garden area, where there is an additional little storage space and some trees.
